On the Bright Side

Well hello!  I had a wonderful trip back home and now I don’t know where to begin with this week!  It’s going to be a busy one.  But let me just reflect on some fun times before I’m sitting in the doctor’s office waving my 99% healed elbow in everyone’s face.

Pumpkins!  October is the best! Image

My niece, Lucy, is growing up too fast! Image

My mom thought this was a beautiful leaf.  And it sure is!  “Don’t get me in the picture!”

Max and I got caught in a major thunderstorm after stopping by a brewery.

Image

We were trapped.

Image

Until the lightning and thunder stopped and we decided it was safe enough to run.  In the pouring rain.  Nothing worse than wet, rainy jeans.

We celebrated with my brother and his fiancé Elise, post rain shower.

I really didn’t take many photos while I was home.  I enjoyed the majority of it without capturing it.  Mostly all the food I had been missing so much!  It’s sooooo nice to be back in Seattle though!  It’s incredible when you step off the plane and notice the difference in fresh air.  Here’s to a nice, rainy day with no plans to run in it anytime soon…

I’ll be back when I’m back.

With love,

Anne

I’m not doing a very good job of posting recipes, you guys!  That’s because I’m not in my kitchen.  I’m at home and enjoying every bit of it for a short while.  Even though I’m enjoying it, I’m missing sweet Seattle always.  I’ll be back and cooking shortly.  See ya from the best coast!

It has been another wonderful week.

Max and I took a stroll on what may have been the last summer day to the sculpture park. They have a partial house, mostly a roof, that is a new addition to the park. I captured what turned into my very favorite photo while Max was on the chimney. Don’t worry, it’s not as high as a house…and you are allowed to walk on it! Definitely cool. And weird. But what do I know about a true arteest (sculptooour)!?

These legs stand on their own! Toes curling for dear life and all! I’m so proud 🙂 Image

Perfection.

This baby, however, does not stand on his own but holds a small gun. Welcome to Queen Anne, folks! Enjoy your stay in our neighborhood!

Hope you are having a great week! Thanks for reading, you guys. I love ya.

This past week was full of lots of adventures!  My walk to get a flu shot wasn’t so bad.

We went to the Rhododendron and Bonsai Gardens.  Simply beautiful.

Holy moly, this was an exhausting weekend!   We went to a music festival just a few blocks away from our apartment and it was…wonderful.  Well, parts of it.  You see, once you get by the people dressed as zombies and the girls in sports bra fashion, you make it to the show you want to see and everything is pretty good after that.  I wish I could tell you differently,  but that was what was happening this weekend.  To be perfectly honest, the comedy at this music festival was actually the very best part.  Not to mention you are seated in an air-conditioned seat in a theater instead of outside in the heat with 12 year olds dressed like they are from the 70s.  You take what you can, folks.  All in all, we had fun…but it took some strategy.

This weekend we decided to make the quick drive to Portland to spend time in the city.  Well, we ended up spending more time in the neighborhoods outside of the city, but we still popped downtown.  It was the best way to spend the weekend, actually.

The PSU farmers market is my faaavorite.  They have another one but this is not as….tacky?  Not sure how to describe it.  It’s perfect and they have beautiful artichokes like this, so how could it not be great?ImageSplitting some raspberries.  There were a couple moldy ones that we ate around.  I happened to take a picture of the evidence. ImageThis sky looks like a face to me.  ImageCute little ladybugs! Image

Yes.  Be.  Here.  ImageArt=Banana?  ImageAnd well, we tried lots of delish beers.  ImageAnd ice cream!  The best there.ImageA very…Northwest-y bar.ImageImageThe weekend had to come to a close sometime so what better way than to go to breakfast and eat thebestbreakfastIhaveevereaten?ImageI love joy!ImageImageA great weekend…but as always, it’s so nice to be back home.

It has been go, go go these days and thankfully it won’t be go, go, go for the next short while.  I like doing things but sometimes it’s nice to sit for a minute.

Love thee Band of Horses. ImageWell, not too much else to share this week.  I simply like to give you some snippets and call it a day.  And if you noticed I forgot the yogurt in the blueberry cake yesterday, I did!  And it’s now in the recipe.  Phew.  Take good care.

On the bright side

Well, things are busy as usual.  There are so many fun things to do in the summer!  Especially when it hasn’t rained in like…two months (or so it seems).  Although, I do sort of miss a little refreshing rain.  Except, I’m glad it wasn’t around for a couple concerts we have attended lately.

ImageThis weekend I bumped into my favorite chef in Seattle and debated with Max for moments whether it would be “super uncool” of me to ask for a picture.  I know he is pretty easygoing but then you think about people who just may not want to be bothered.  Ultimately, we decided it was okay because you may not bump into Tom Douglas on another occasion.  Luckily, a few other girls had the same idea and I just followed up on their “super uncool” idea.  Obviously he was very nice about it.  Even gave me a couple pats on the back as I said “thank you!!”  Yes, I was a little starstruck.  NERD ALERT.  Later, I realized that his hand isn’t even touching my left arm.  TOM!  I’ll have to be happy enough with the pats on the back.  I think we are good friends.

ImageMonday movie night proved to be absolutely sensational.
